4 years agoHello all you wonderful, wise people.
I am half a year into my lyra practice (at a studio) and I am absolutely in love. I was thinking of purchasing a set of my own but am unsure as I do have the best space for it at home. I live in an apartment but I always have the option of using the giant field behind us. I am a little confused as to whether or not I need to purchase a separate rigging set or if I could hang it on something else. If I was to purchase a set, I was thinking the indoor rigging set from trapezerigging. Would this be a good bet?
Aerial fabric/aerial silks, perfect for beginners and aerial yoga hammocks and aerial dance! The fabric has been tested to a load rating of over 1500 lbs and meets all aerial equipment industry standards, machine washable. 10 yard minimum order of ONE color. $11.50/yd, many colors available, see color chart to right. It's not going to be as fun as a silks class where you learn to do tricks, but it's good for at home conditioning. Drape a towel over the bar, grab the towel and lift your legs off the ground. This helps you learn to hold your body weight in a way to work on your grip strength for silks specifically.

I would purchase a double tab hoop as well most likely. Camtasia studio 8.6 keygen.
I also have seen hoops being hung from trees and other places around. Any advice would help. Paint tool sai manga. I understand that safety is numero uno so that's why I'm asking the most awesome aerialists that I (do not really) know!
- Proper length for a DIY aerial silks rig - someday Ill need this. Find this Pin and more on Pole and Aerial rigging and safety by Squeak Machine. Hopefully I'll need this information one day.
- Yoga swings, alternatively called yoga trapezes or yoga hammock, are inversion tools designed to give you all the benefits of a high intensity aerial yoga routine, no matter what your skill set is right now. Consisting of a series of ropes, chords, and handles, aerial swings allow you to move your body in postures unimaginable from the ground.
Thank you!

A friend and I just took our first aerial silks class today at our university and we are HOOKED. We've already been looking into options to practice aerial silks outside of class since once a week is not enough for us, but unfortunately cannot afford the open gym fees we have found and I read that rigging without structural advising is dangerous. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for similar exercises we could set up? We are looking for something fun that works the same muscles (abs and arms in particular) and preferably has similar movements like inversion.
A couple ideas I have:
A portable hoop ($500 is.. quite a hefty sum though)
A dancing pole (not sure how similar the muscles worked are)
An aerial yoga sling
A slack line (maybe not so similar, but also a fun activity)

I in particular was struggling to keep up in class since my arms and abs are very weak. As a backup I could always just do exercises at the gym to work on these but I get bored with these routines easily. I think suspending a yoga sling from a big sturdy tree branch on campus sounds like the most similar thing, and safe since I wouldn't be doing anything forceful to break the branch since the sling is small, but I thought I'd see if anyone here had any suggestions!
